What I learned on day 1 was I still had a lot to learn. We had lunch together, went out to dinner with our significant others, joined a bunch of other pilots for nice night out, etc, etc. I made good progress but was unable to finish so I reached out again and asked Tony if AFIT would help me complete my training. The CFI is a different beast and mostly needs your self . The 14-Day Private Pilot course is one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences. Although the course was accelerated, I was not overwhelmed with the flight lessons and the curriculum created by Andy and Tony makes it easy for anyone to succeed. AFIT helped my attain my life long goal at 58 and I couldnt imagine achieving this dream any other way. I cant thank Ruben enough for his help, kindness, knowledge, positivity, even going as far as filming a short video of my flight training progress. He is easy to get along with and his relaxed demeanor pays dividends when trying to learn in what can be a stressful undertaking at times. Over 4,500 plus total Logged hours and over 3,300 hours dual given. Five years passed, eroding anything I learned, before I came across A. F. I. T. and the 14-day PPL course. After that first solo Paul and I spent the next 6 days working on my new skills and learning to be a good pilot. But after I received my training from John, I realized it was possible. In my first several months of flying I cannot tell you how many times his teaching points I have thought back on. Just wanted to thank you and Andy for helping fulfill a life-long bucket list item! The exhilaration of my first solo will forever be a big picture in my memory! We flew a lot every day (3-5 hrs) and I studied in the evenings and from 05.30 every morning. As Cholena said, getting your PPL is really a license to continue to learn how to fly. Once you get to know a bit more about John you quickly learn that he is in the business of wowing you. After arriving I spent 1 hour in the pattern with Ricardo and was landing successfully. The sky has no limits. I have flown with 3 CFIs including Paul and the thing I was most impressed by Paul is that he allows you to learn to fly and allows you to have full controls. I couldnt imagine learning aviation any other way than with AFIT. Mike really went the extra mile for metwo miles, actually! I was in a tough situation when I was forced to finish a PPL as a requirement for a program. His teaching style and acronyms really aided me in remembering important details and eased me through the oral exam and ultimately helped me pass my check ride.
